Logo head pain

Am messing around with a new logo/header for my blog and website.

This is it at the moment, got a lot to change though. Very simplistic, handmade, gets the point across.

Here's a different version, I like the cut-out paper effect, maybe a different colour though.

ALSO here's some things to follow! (shameless self-promotion)

Paper and glue

Here are some weird collages I did last week. They make me laugh, I'm tempted to do more. Quite irrelevant from my project though.

They are inspired by Vladimir Nabokov's Lolita. I took inspiration from the time period of the 1950's and the idea of travel throughout the novel. I didn't tackle the character of Lolita in these collages, I wanted to focus on the male characters; which is why most of them resemble monsters. Both physically and metaphorically.

Business card designs

Back with some new business cards.
They're drawings from a past project on elderly people, I think the portraits compliment the small scale and simple design of the cards.

Mini set of three

And a little extra

This one doesn't fit with the portraits so I will have to make a series of charcoal cards.

V&A Illustrations Awards 2012

Here's my entry for the annual V&A Illustration awards

I know I've used these images to death but I still like them so up they go!

Fingers and toes crossed.

Will update with screenprints and sketches over Christmas (while quickly making my family some Christmas cards!)

That awkward post

Long time no post. I'm now in my third and final year at uni, so much to do at the moment; competitions, projects, dissertation work and now I finally decided it was time to start posting here again.
Also joined Twitter (after not liking it for a long time) it's actually so fun! I use it for business/illustration purposes (and maaaybe to follow Jimmy Carr)

Here's some sketches from my latest uni project. It's reportage based on elderly people and dance. It's a bit of a continuation from my last project which was also about elderly people.

I haven't used mechanical pencil for sooooo long! i missed it. I tried to capture the character of the person and the emotion, think it worked pretty well.
I can't decide between sticking with charcoal or going with pencil... hmmm

Some of my prints from my current project. Some successful, some not... it's all a learning curve though.

I really like these lino prints, I think they came out really well. I'm glad too because it took forever to cut the shape out!

Mono, doesn't look as good in the scan. I liked this a lot but it didn't suit my project so I left it out.

VERY experimental screen print, I liked using this medium for such a sketchy drawing, they don't go together but I like it.
